Department of Economics was established in the Academic year 2013-2014 offering undergraduate course B. A. with the sanctioned strength of 60 in Tamil medium and 60 in English medium in shift – I under the affiliation of Thiruvalluvar University. The study of economics develops a wide range of analytical and critical thinking skills, which opens up many diverse career opportunities.  A bachelor’s degree in economics prepares students for a career in not just business, banking, government, and financial transactions, but also areas such as urban planning, international development, policy analysis, journalism, education, and the non- profit sector. Two National Seminars conducted in the Department and Economic Association has been formed in the year 2015 and is functioning as on day.
