Activities of YOUTH RED CROSS

The YOUTH RED CROSS is functioning well under the leadership of the Principal, T.K. Government Arts College, Vriddhachalam. The YRC activities of the college are organized and monitored by the YRC Programme officer. The college YRC has one unit with hundred Students volunteers. Both boys and girls can enroll in the YRC to take part actively in the social services for the welfare of the people.

In every academic year up to march, campus cleaning work was done many times. The YRC unit of the College actively participated in the following community services:

· Cleaning the environment,

· Plantation,

· Community health programmes,

· Blood donation camps,

· Prevention of drug and alcohol addiction and rehabilitation of victims,

· Welfare of women and childcare,

· HIV/AIDS Awareness programmes,

· National Youths’ Day,

· Seminars, Workshops, Lectures, and Cultural Activities,

During 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-2018, 2018-2019,2019-2020, the YRC unit of our college conducted many blood donation camps. Apart from service to society, these activities make the student volunteers greater exposure and the ability to deal with social issues.

Major Extension and Outreach Programmes organized:

2015-2016

1. Hundred YRC volunteers have cleaned the college campus on 13.08.2015 and on 14.08.2015 in view of Independence Day celebrations.

2. Independence Day was celebrated on 15.08.2015. Dr.K.Vanangamudi, the Principal, hoisted the flag. The YRC volunteers, students, staff members and Office staffs were participated.

3. Saplings of 50 tree was planted in the campus on 13.09.2015

4. An awareness programme was conducted on 29.09.2015 at 10.00 am.

5. Dr V.N.Selvam M.D, has delivered a lecture on ‘‘ SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY’’. Dr.G.Sundaraselvan ,YRC Programme Officer, Welcomed the gathering. Dr.G.Vanangamudi, the Principal of the college was presided over the function. More than 200 volunteers and staffs were the beneficiaries.

6. Youth awareness day was celebrated on 15.10.2015 On behalf of Dr.APJ ABDUL KALAM.

7. Our College was honoured by the title ‘‘ BEST PERFORMANCE IN YOUTH RED CROSS MOVEMENT’’ , by Indian red cross Society ,Tamilnadu branch on 25.10.2015.

8. HIV/AIDS awareness Programme was conducted on 25.01.2016 at the soft skill centre of the college. Mr.R.Kathiravan, RRC manager, Cuddalore district have discussed with the students about the root cause, effect and precaution measures of HIV/AIDS. He also advised the students to create awareness among the village peoples about HIV/AIDS.

9. Republic day was celebrated on 26.01.2016.

2016-2017

10. The YRC volunteers have cleaned the college campus on 30.06.2016.

11. Saplings of 50 trees was planted in the campus on 27.07.2016.

12. HIV/AIDS awareness Programme was conducted on 04.04.2018 at the soft skill centre of the college.

13. Mr.R.Kathiravan, District Supervisor, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, Cuddalore district discussed with the students about the root cause, effect and precaution measures of HIV/AIDS. He also advised the students to create awareness among the village peoples about HIV/AIDS.

14. Blood donation camp was conducted on 11.08.2016. In that camp 80 students were participated and donated blood. Dr.D.Thirunavukarasu, Blood bank officer, Government general hospital, Vriddhachalam along with their medical team were collecting the blood. Dr.R.Rajasekaran, Principal of the college appreciated the students.

15. Independence Day was celebrated on 15.08.2016. The Principal, hoisted the National flag. The YRC volunteers, students, staff members and Office staffs were participated.

16. The YRC volunteers have cleaned the college campus (Exterior of Ladies waiting Hall) on 23.09.2016 .

17. The YRC volunteers have cleaned the college campus on 21.10.2016.

18. The YRC volunteers have cleaned the college campus (Exterior of Chemistry and Zoology Departments ) on 31.11.2016.

19. Road safety awareness Programme was conducted on 06.01.2017 at the soft skill center of the college. Er.k.Vimala, Motor Vechicle Inspector, Vridhachalam, have delivered a lecture on Road safety and cleared the questions raised by the students and staff members. Dr.G.Sundaraselvan ,YRC Programme Officer, have Welcomed the gathering. Dr.V.Indhumathi, the Principal of the college presided over the function.

20. The YRC volunteers cleaned the college campus (Exterior of History ) on 09.01.2016.

21. Awareness Programme on handling of LPG was conducted on 23.01.2017 at the soft skill centre of the college. Mr.L.Jayachandran, JC Indane gas, manager, Vridhachalam has Delivered a lecture about the economical usage, safety handling of LPG and cleared the doubts of the audiences about LPG.

22. Republic Day was celebrated on 26-01-17. The Principal, Dr.V.Indhumathi hoisted the National flag. The YRC volunteers, students, staff members and Non - teaching staff members were participated.

23. The YRC volunteers have cleaned the college campus (Exterior of Economics Departments) on 08.02.2017.

24. Blood grouping camp was conducted on 18.02.2017. In that camp more than 800 students have known their blood group under the guidance of Dr.D.Thirunavukarasu MBBS, blood bank officer, Government General hospital, Vriddhachalam along with their medical team. Test and grouping the blood of the donors were done.

25. Blood donation camp was conducted on 06.03.2017. In that camp 64 students were participated and donated blood . Dr.D.Thirunavukarasu, Blood bank officer, Government general hospital, Vriddhachalam along with their medical team were collecting the blood. Dr.V.Indhumathi, Principal of the college appreciated the students.

26. International womens day was celebrated on 08.03.2017 at our college. Tmt. C.SanthoshiniChandra, RDO, Vriddhachalam and Er.V.Meenakumari, Motor Vechicle Inspector,Vriddhachalam felicitated the function.

32. Dr.G.Sundaraselvan, the YRC Programme Officer attended a One day Zonal level Orientation Programme for YRC Programme Officers Sponsored by INDIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY, Tamilnadu branch Conducted at Thiruvalluvar University, Serkadu, Vellore on 09.02.2018

33. International womens day was celebrated on 17.03.2018 at our college premises.

34. HIV/AIDS awareness Programme was conducted on 01.08.2016 at the soft skill center of the college . Mr.R.Kathiravan , District Supervisor,District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, Cuddalore district delivered a lecture on “CELEBRATING LIFE” and discussed with the students about the root cause, effect and precaution measures of HIV/AIDS.

Dr.Devanand, PM, ARDMO, Cuddalore felicitated the function. He also advised the students to create awareness among the village peoples about HIV/AIDS. Dr.R.Mathivanan,Principal i/c of the College Presided over the function.

35. Blood donation camp was conducted on 13.03.2018. In that camp 52 students were participated and donated blood. Dr. D.Thirunavukarasu, Blood bank officer, Government general hospital, Vriddhachalam along with their medical team were collecting the blood. The Principal of the college appreciated the students.

2018-2019

36. Blood donation camp was conducted on 18.07.2018. In that camp 49 students were participated and donated blood. Dr. D.Thirunavukarasu, Blood bank officer, Government general hospital, Vriddhachalam along with their medical team were collecting the blood. The Principal of the college appreciated the students.

37. On the Eve of National Voluntary blood donation day-2018, (1st October)Dr.G.Sundaraselvan, YRC Programme Officer of our college has been honoured by the District Collector, Cuddalore by receiving a medal and a Certificate of appreciation on 06.10.2018.

38. Blood donation camp was conducted on 16.10.2018. In that camp 55 students were participated and donated blood. Dr. D.Thirunavukarasu, Blood bank officer, Government general hospital,Vriddhachalam along with their medical team were collecting the blood. The Principal of the college appreciated the students.

39. As a precautionary step, to safe guard ourselves and the students from DENGUE fever, they were provided with “NILA VEMBU HERBAL WATER” on 18.10.2018. This preliminary work has been taken place and leaded by Dr.G.Dhavamani (siddha), Government general hospital, Vriddhachalam. Dr.K.Velu, the Principal of the college presided over the Programme. More than 4000 students and staffs were benefitted.

40. The YRC volunteers cleaned the college campus ( Exterior of Main Block ) on 22.10.2018.

41. Blood donation camp was conducted on 05.02.2019. In that camp 54 students were participated and donated blood. Dr. K.Kulothungacholan, Blood bank officer, Government general hospital, Vriddhachalam along with their medical team were collecting the blood. Dr.K.Velu, Principal of the college appreciated the students.

42. Er.Paramaguru Kandhasamy delivered a motivational speech on ‘‘Life Skills’’ on 30.03.2019. Dr.K.Velu, Principal of the college presided over the function. More than 300 Students are the benificieries.

2019-2020

46. Blood donation camp was conducted on 06.03.2020. In that camp 64 students have donated their blood. Dr. K.Kulothungacholan, Blood bank officer, Government general hospital,Vriddhachalam along with their medical team were collecting the blood. Dr.G.Rajavel, Principal of the college appreciated the students.

2020-2021
