About the Library
The general library is established to enhance the student’s knowledge. Library has stack room, reference section, reading hall and 50 students can avail the reading room at a time. To provide access to global knowledge, the General library has a collection of over 51,000 volumes of Indian and foreign books in their latest edition and subscribe to more than 6000 UGC- N-LIST Journals and1,64,300 e-books. The library also holds rich collections of Tamil books, Reference Books and has good collection of competitive exam books.
The Library has been computerized (partially) with e-Granthalaya 4.0 Software (Integrated Library Management software developed by NIC) for regular transactions of library activities. Each year, on an average 970 volumes, are added to the collection. Library also holds few collections of rare books. Apart from the General Library, each department has a separate library in their respective departments to access books and other materials for their informational need.
Rules and regulations
v All users are requested to sing in the gate register upon entrance to the library.
v Perfect silence should be observed in the library.
v No personal belongings are allowed inside the library.
v All students must present their library membership cards before borrowing library books
v All borrowed books must be returned on or before the due date.
v Students can keep the books for 15 days at a time.

ACTIVITIES:
v Librarian day celebration: National Librarian day is celebrated in TKG arts college library on 12th August of every year in memory of birthday of Dr.S. R. Ranganathan, the man who gave a lot in Library and Information Science field.
v Saraswathi Pooja: As a part of extension activity, Library conducted Saraswathi Pooja with the participation of staff and students.
v Orientation service: Library orientation makes Library users aware of the library and the services it offers. Library orientation educates people regarding general use of the library.
v Conducting seminars: Conduction seminars among students are also a good habit. This would help the students to get more information on the particular seminar topic. Seminars also help them to convey their own ideas to their friends and teachers.
v Tree Planting: As a part of extension services, we encourage the students for tree planting. It provides an opportunity for community involvement and empowerment that improves the quality of life in our neiborhoods.
v User award: To motive the students to make the efficient use of the library and its services, the ‘Best Library User Award’ has been started from 2019 -20. Students are selected on the basis of the statistical data, Accession of books, reading aptitude and utilization of library resources.
